1 Full-time 10 hours ago Full Job Description Holt of California is proud to partner with San Joaquin Delta College for the ThinkBIG program.
Holt of California is one of four Caterpillar dealers in California to be involved with the Caterpillar Dealer Service Technician Program (ThinkBIG) ThinkBIG Holt of California's ThinkBIG technical training sponsorship, is a paid, on-the-job training and gives you an opportunity to work directly on Caterpillar machines and engines as well as assist trained technicians.
No two days of the program are ever the same as you solve big problems, use advanced technologies and have the opportunity to interact with customers in several different industries.
ThinkBIG graduates go on to become specialized experts, skilled in a wide variety of technologies.
Program Structure:
The Think BIG program is a four-year apprenticeship, two years education program combined with two years of on-the-job training (OJT).
Over the first 2 years the students rotate every 8 weeks between San Joaquin Delta College and a Holt of California facility.
While at school the students will be completing technical and academic course work.
When at a Holt of California facility the student will be working as a paid mechanic trainee applying skills learned at school to on-the-job.
Specific objectives have been developed so that each internship period is closely aligned with educational courses to reinforce learning in real-world situations.
The student will earn a A.
S.
degree when they complete the 2 years of schooling and be offered a full-time position as a dealer mechanic trainee for an additional two years.
Once they complete the OTJ requirements for the state apprenticeship program they will receive two journey-level certificates one from the State of California and one from the Federal Department of Labor.
Curriculum Caterpillar-authored technical training on Cat equipment includes some of the latest developments in engine and power train repair as well hydraulic and electronic system diagnostics.
Required general education courses provide students with the background necessary for effective communication and interpersonal skill development.
Courses include Mathematics, Composition and Technical Writing, Business Ethics, and others On-the-Job Training (OTJ) The paid OTJ phase of the program allows students to apply what they've learned in the classroom and lab sessions in a real world setting.
Apprentices also become familiar with the dealership environment, its organizational structure and the skills expected of a professional service technician.
Outline of Program:
Must be at least 18 years of age by the first internship period with Holt of California.
Have a high school diploma, General Education Development (GED) certificate, a California High School Proficiency (CHSP) Certificate Meet SJDC and dealer admission and academic requirements.

3 Letters of Recommendation - One from a teacher, One from a previous or current employer, school counselor or administrator, One from a person of your choice A 250 word essay on Why you want a career in the Diesel/Heavy Equipment Industry.
Submit an Official Transcript from your high school or GED certificate In addition, if applicable, transcripts from any related college/university and/or military training should also be included with your application.
Official documents are not required for these types of transcripts.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
